Brian Collins (COLLINS) on When Worlds Collide | TNW Conference 2017

When Worlds Collide We have entered a world where all points are colliding. Digital into physical. Consumer into producer. Biology into technology. Past into future. Disciplines that were once siloed are now integrated and seamless. Success no longer hinges on more "storytelling" - but the ability to invent, mix and craft experiences that will enrich people's daily lives. To thrive today requires a dramatically different way of thinking about brands - how you build a company and a brand. Brian will review three non-negotiable principles you'll need to thrive as a leader in this new world. Brian Collins CHIEF CREATIVE OFFICER, CO-FOUNDER Brian Collins is Chief Creative Officer of COLLINS: a design company in New York City and San Francisco, dedicated to creating experiences, products, and technologies that shape companies and people for the better. Over his career, Brian has won every major creative award. His work has been featured in The New York Times, Forbes, Creativity, Fortune, Graphis, NBC News, ABC News and Fast Company, which named him an American Master of Design. Business Week named his work for Hershey in Times Square as a retail “Wonder of the World.” His team's design of Helios House in Los Angeles, the first gas station using environmentally sustainable principles, is included in The Cooper Hewitt National Museum of Design. For ten years prior to the founding of COLLINS, Brian was Chief Creative Officer of the Brand Integration Group (BIG), the design and innovation division of Ogilvy & Mather Worldwide. Brian’s clients have included Spotify, Facebook, Airbnb, Target, Levi Strauss & Co., Coca-Cola, Mattel, Instagram, The Miller Brewing Company, IBM, Jaguar Cars, Unilever, NBC, Microsoft, and Nike. He was made a Distinguished Alumnus of the Massachusetts College of Art and Design in 2004 and received an Honorary Doctorate from the Art Center College of Design in 2008. He was the first graphic designer invited to participate in the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. Brian’s team recently designed the AIGA 100th Anniversary Book and the Type Directors Club 60th Annual International Typography exhibition, using principles of generative typography. Brian has been a professor in the Graduate Program of the School of Visual Arts since 2001.
